Our story

Bortársaság was founded under the name of Budapest Wine Society in 1993 by Attila Tálos and Tom Howells for selling wines of the very best hungarian wineries and for organizing tastings and other events like this.

Since then in the last 15 years the small enterprise started as a hobby now has grown one of the most significant winetrader company in Hungary under the name of Budapest Bortársaság Kft. Nowadays Bortársaság's business done is nearly 1.5 billion forint per year.
This number is one of the most remarkable one in the Hungarian wine market. Our company broke fresh ground about the services for private customers with our special wine selections (mixed cases included further discounts), and with the Bortársaság club membership which has now thousands of members. The members of Bortársaság club can select from special offers, winedinners, tastings, and other novelties from our newsletter sent by e-mail every month. In Budapest we have four shops where you can find nearly 500 different Hungarian or foreign wines, spirits, sparkling wines and champagnes. All of our shops work with the same conditions and same prices. To serve our private customers in the whole country we have ten other partners in big towns like Debrecen, Győr, Kecskemét, Szeged.

With our wide selection of Hungarian and foreign wines Bortársaság is a dominant supplier of hotels, restaurants and catering companies in Budapest. Among our partners you can find traditional places as well as the newest restaurants or hotel chains. We supply many winetrader companies and wineshops too with precise and exact service. Budapest Bortársaság sells nearly 50 producer's wine. We are the exclusive dealer of the winemaker's product as follows: Konyári János, Légli Ottó, Bussay László, Etyeki Kúria, Györgykovács Imre, Dúzsi Tamás, Heimann and sons, Günzer Zoltán, Mayer Márton, Németh cellar, St. Andrea, Tokaj-Oremus, Királyudvar and Szepsy István and accentuated dealer of Jásdi cellar's, Bock József's, Gere Attila's, Szeremley Huba's wines. Bortársaság is the exclusive importer of the french Champagne Veuve Clicquot house, the spanish Torres and Vega-Sicila wineries, and the italian brands of Antinori, Prunotto, Fonterutoli, Tormaresca, Corvo and Santa Margherita.
