Italy - Sicilia
Wines from the island... From the island which is part of Italy, but a completely different world. It luxuriates in cultural monuments left by the conquerors, where the people live according to their traditions, but for the day. From the island where the contrasts are sharp: between sunshine and heap clouds, the thousand colours of bougainvilleas and the rocky brown of the plateaus, the turquoise of the sea and the yellow of the oranges, the sombre black of Etna and its resounding, lively green. We can describe the colours of this island, to introduce its aromas we get help from the Planeta family's wines. The story of the winery began from the area of Ulmo, the century old family property: the first great wines were born here on the slopes above the Arancio-lake, like the classic Chardonnay. From here the travel started which is lasting in our days as well: the line of the steps now reaches the Etna. On the basis of the establisher cousins, Alessio, Francesca and Santi Planet's philosophy the estate divides into smaller boutique vineries which were formed in areas with real different soil and climate. In the grapes giving places to traditions and experimentation local and international types of grape have role. Roaming about the shelves of Bortársaság we can travel too: we find the mentioned classic Chardonnay, with which we climb from the slopes of Ulmo to the plantation of the Maroccoli-Plateau which is bordered with oregano, then we can head towards the sea: Menfi, Cantina Grande with the determining white and red cuvée, the Segreta Bianco and Segreta Rosso which have special role in the cellar's life. Some more steps and the bright and spicy Syrah is waiting for us in Cantina Piccola...

Let's close our eyes and go toward east on the beach: on the left there are ancient ruins of temples, on the right there is that certain turquoise... Now we arrived to the estate in Vittoria, from the fruitful marriage of Frappato - yielding on the red sand of Dorilli - and Nero d'Avola the special, light and lustful red wine, the Cerasuolo di Vittoria was born, which gets into the shops at first time. A newer stage follows, in its architecture style it is Baroque, with its plants in the east corner which recalls the Arabian world: it is Noto, its snow-white soil, the original home of Nero d'Avola, from here the Santa Cecilia brings the exotic aromas. And the team's days are full with suspense, within days the new harvest will start, a new period: on the Etna. (The wine is fermenting and the conceptions are working...) These lines were written by Patrícia Tóth team-member, viticulturist, somewhere halfway between Cerasuolo and Santa Cecília. When Patrícia return to Budapest after the harvest she will introduce these wines personally.
