Ruinart
Ruinart is - officially as well - the oldest Champagne house in France, which was founded by Nicolas Ruinart in the Reims cellar dug out by the Romans.
Even though it is LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA that owns the company, the family and the vision of Nicolas' uncle Dom Ruinart has an important role in the past and present of the Champagne house. Their winemaking philosophy is simple: they pay special attention to the Chardonnay grapes that make it into the cellar mainly from the Cote de Blancs and Montagne de Reims areas. In the cellar that is dug into the limestone, they age the wines slowly and naturally at low temperatures. Freshness and pure taste characterize the style of their Champagnes. The world famous, distinctive elegance can be tracked down to the shape of the bottle through to the wrapping to the elegant flavours and sparkling fizz.
The most favoured grape variety of the house is Chardonnay which even in the non-vintage category represents 40% proportion beside the Pinot grapes.
