Symington Family Estates
The Symington family got to know in connection with the Graham's, as a proof of their commitment to this wine land, in the second half of the 90's made a decision on showing what the valley of Douro could achieve in the field of the light (namely not strengthened) wines. In 1999 they launched the first vintage of their own wine product line, the Altano, which they have complemented with Altano Reserva since then. Both wines have DOC classification, it means that these wines belong to the highest Portuguese quality category, and they are the blending of two indigenous grapes, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca.
However this was not enough for them, they won for themselves, Bruno Prats, the reputable Bordeaux viticulturist, the former proprietor of Château Cos d'Estournel. Then they mixed him, the potential of Douro and the experience and finesse of Bordeaux. The result is the Chyseia wine product line, which is apostrophised as the wine equivalent of Metallica by Skinner. Its second since 2002 or - from another point of view - introducer wine is the Post Scriptum. It is a cuvée of four indigenous grapes, which the makers designed for an earlier consumable, more easily understandable red wine with serious seasoning potential.
