Heimann Baranya-völgyi Kékfrankos 2008
| The Baranya Valley is one of Szekszárd's most exciting vineyards, boasting its own distinct microclimate. Here the Heimanns have 40 year old Kékfrankos vines spread across eight terraces. After picking the grapes are lightly crushed and macerated on their skins for two weeks and kept in steel tank until the end of the malic acid conversion. For winter it then goes into 50 hectolitre vats, and then into small barrels in spring for eight months before bottling. This is an elegant marriage of Kékfrankos and terrific terroir in a fine vintage, as evidenced by the varietally pure red fruit and the earthiness of the Baranya Valley. |
