Regular viewers of the Tour de France may recognise the expression L’Échappée Belle on the label, a term passionate commentators use to describe riders who break away from the peloton, which is essentially the ‘escape’. On the label of the estate’s bestseller, a flying free bird symbolises this euphoric feeling, the sense of breaking free. Year after year, this Blanc de Blancs serves as Étienne’s entry-level estate champagne and is also a classic within our Grower Champagne selection. A 100% Chardonnay blend, combining grapes from the three sub-regions of the appellation: Côte de Sézanne, Côte des Blancs and Grande Vallée de la Marne. It evokes the atmosphere of the pristine cellar, with gleaming stainless-steel tanks, well-aged barrels and naturally lit spaces.
Almost textbook Blanc de Blancs notes: taut acidity, yet full-bodied, with chalky, subtly mineral flavours, white flowers and vibrant freshness. After spontaneous fermentation and malolactic conversion, the wine was bottled unfiltered and aged in the bottle for nearly two years. Classic style with a delicate twist.
Disgorged in February 2025, dosage: 3 g/l.
