The year 1883. Aÿ, Champagne. Two German merchants, William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, with one common aim: to make and sell as much Champagne from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards as possible. Although the beginning of Deutz’s history lacks romance, by today the name indicates one of the world’s best champagne houses. They purchase grapes from 250 hectares altogether, 75% from Grand Cru vineyards, and sell 2.4 million bottles annually. The characteristic bottle has become the emblem of the brand, from which we immediately know that there isn’t any other champagne like this. For the Brut Classic, they use the three Champagne varieties in equal proportions and add at least 20% of réserve wine to the blend. They age it for three years. Floral aromas, toasty notes, exceptionally delicious mousse, remarkable texture. It’s pristinely pure and sophisticated with the Chardonnay’s freshness and the rich character of the Pinot Noir.
