Despite the extremely challenging vintage, the 66th vintage of the Vintage Champagne that has been released now, and was originally created by Madame Clicquot in 1810, was made from amazing base material. The blend is made exclusively from grapes harvested from grand and premier cru plots, and the base wine is made up by 51% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. The three different varieties give the wine the right structure, elegance, fruitiness, freshness and spice. The uniqueness of the Vintage Rosé 2012 lies in the addition of a small (11%) batch aged in large wooden barrels, which lends the aromas of oak spices, vanilla and roasted nuts to the wine. All this is eventually coloured by 13% of Bouzy Pinot Noir. Juicy red fruit, strawberry and Morello cherry, spicy saffron and pepper notes appear on the palate. It has complex aromas, a beautiful structure with up to a quarter of a century of ageing potential.
