Tibor Gál, the world-travelled estate builder, conjured up the amphitheatre on the then uncultivated hillside of Kárásztelek, from which the grapes for all the Carassia traditional method sparkling wines are still harvested today. Since then, nearly 20 years have passed, and the vines have strengthened in the large mica-soil basin. Bordered by forest, the quiet estate that’s easily navigable on foot is located in the immediate vicinity of the cellar. It’s the most welcome of circumstances when the winemaker has a view out onto the grapes all year round.

Now, we have taken out a fresh disgorgement from the estate’s ‘trump card’ 2018 vintage. In this year, a lot of richly-flavoured base wines with different characters were fermented, from which they blended it with the help of their grower-champagne advisor, Jérome Legras. Eventually, along with the 50% of Chardonnay, the Classic Brut was compiled from wines of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and a touch of Pinot Blanc.
