At the great Champagne houses, the Blanc de Blancs is always a story of its own: a distinct voice that often differs from the house’s usual style, and is, in many cases, even more exciting than their prestige cuvées. In its youth, it’s taut and lean; with age, it gains depth, along with brioche and nutty nuances.

“Our goal was to define the style of Sauska sparkling wines: no oxidative notes, no barrel ageing and the malic acid remains in the base wine. We’re aiming for a mature yet taut expression within an aromatic spectrum,” summarises Régis Camus.
The Blanc de Blancs is the purest expression of this philosophy. It was first made three years ago, based on Régis’ old concept: a small batch in which, alongside Chardonnay, 30% of Furmint was included. The current release is NV, but its base wine comes from the 2020 vintage. The blend is Furmint–Chardonnay, made exclusively from Tokaj base wines, with the secondary fermentation carried out in Budafok.

The first release was such a success that it was brought back by popular demand last autumn – and now the third edition has arrived, showcasing yet another brilliant Blanc de Blancs.
The nose reveals quince and lemon peel, followed by the biscuity, delicately toasted notes that come with extended ageing. Refreshingly dry, pure and remarkably long, with Tokaj’s signature minerality growing even more pronounced on the finish.
A limited edition within Sauska’s range of terroir-driven sparkling wines – a project that began as a passionate endeavour a few years ago and has since become a beloved recurring feature of their collection.
