‘Senior’ was the first. The name signifies not just heritage but also status – this is the prosecco that started it all for the Bortolomiol family in Valdobbiadene. While they now make prosecco in diverse styles, Senior has retained its classic role: an Extra Dry wine, marked by elegance and depth. The foundation of the wine lies in the limestone soils of the hillsides and meticulous manual-harvesting. On the nose, there’s ripe peach, melon, white flowers and a hint of honey. The palate is full yet lively, with vibrant acidity balancing the residual sugar. This beautifully composed wine has a creamy mousse and a silky finish.
The ‘II’ on the label indicates that this is the second-driest in Bortolomiol's classic range, yet Senior remains unmatched when it comes to prosecco with depth and harmony.
Giuliano Bortolomiol believed the most in winemaking in Valdobbiadene when other people didn’t. He was proved right and Prosecco’s world domination is also due to his work. The estate that produces 2.2 million bottles annually is managed by his daughters today. One of the oldest members of our Prosecco assortment.
