A small batch, a real rarity, has arrived from the cava empire, which has now expanded to many times its original size. The name Mas Gomá refers to the old stone house that stands among the vineyards of the Vendrell family. The estate, which dates back to 1724, has been run by the Vendrell family since 1918, their 20 hectares of vineyards are cultivated according to organic-biodynamic methods. Most of the crop is sold, and from the old vines of the best areas they make their own cava. The favourite wine of our last tasting, La Planta, is a blend of Macabeo and Xarello, which left the cellar without added dosage or disgorging after the second fermentation and 24 months of bottle aging. It’s bone dry, refreshing, cloudy and original.
