July

Chilled reds
The sweltering summer is just as good for light and well-chilled reds as it is for crispy whites or powdery-coloured rosés. Moreover, due to their delicious sourness, they appear to be even more thirst-quenching than the latter options.

The Wines
Based on our tasting, we narrowed the line down to nine super rosés and an extra champagne: among them a great classic of our Provence selection, the Figuiere estate, which has been organic since 1979; the ethereal Chateau La Coste, where biodynamically cultivated grapes are harvested; and the delicately rustic, ancient Sainte-Magdeleine, too. Among the local wineries, the Sebestyén siblings come closest to the world of Provence with their Szél rosé, and likewise the Lajvér blend from Szekszárd is also a great experience. The ripe rosé of the Ruppert family won us over with its freshness and fine oak use, which is rare for a Villány wine; and finally, a true pioneer, one of the first four-season rosés, Tihany, closes the line.

Wines of the month
We have tuned our selected wines for July to the sweltering heat, walking barefoot and the singing of cicadas and crickets, which indicate the real summer. Beside the whites, sparkling wines and rosés, we have dedicated a separate section to those light reds, which are just as refreshing well-chilled in the summer heat.
