The first experience of the trip happens with Gábor Rakaczki, on the top of the Medve vineyard. Gábor starts with his usual dry sense of humour and an incredible Cuvée 113 sitting on the snow-white stones. “You have to become friends with the plot to learn what it’s capable of,” he says.

“If every vintage was like this, grape growers and winemakers would have an easy life. We started harvesting for the traditional method sparkling wine on August 16 and finished it by the end of the month. Ripening was slow and this way we had enough time for selection. The base wines of the traditional method sparkling wines are promising, and the aszú wines will be concentrated. We turned in the larger part of the Medve vineyard for the base wine of the sparklers, and we didn’t use any chemicals. Soon some miniature Shetland sheep will arrive. They will cut the grass because they are too small to reach the bunches.”
