Pál Gyuga worked in the food industry’s international trade and, after spending a lot of time in Italy, developed a deep appreciation for good coffee. The final push to create his own brand came during a trip to the United States in the early 2010s: his son, who was studying in New York, introduced him to the high-quality ‘specialty coffee’ scene that was already flourishing there. They founded the brand in the US, but established the production facility and micro roastery back home in Hungary. They keep everything in their own hands, from sourcing and roasting to packaging and branding, because Pál believes “there’s no room for compromise”. They source coffee beans directly from sustainable, ethically managed farms in El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Vietnam.
