This drink evokes the feeling of the vibrant crimson-coloured aperitivos of bustling Italian terraces, yet remains alcohol-free, organic and low in sugar. The Bavarian Schnitzer family’s distillery began its journey around 100 years ago, and Maximilian – drawing on his grandfather’s expertise – launched his own brand, Mondino, with a core philosophy: an aperitivo blended entirely from 100% natural ingredients. Their master distiller perfected his craft in the 'Bella Italia' of the 1960s, bringing home the original recipe that Max later revitalized with some contemporary touches.
Alpine herbs, sun-ripened citrus from the south and natural spring water form the basis. Alongside fruit juices and water-based extracts, they blend essential distillates featuring indispensable ingredients: fresh citrus, blood orange, gentian, turmeric and star anise. The stunning colour comes from blackberry and rhubarb. Like a fine wine, the hue evolves with ageing, shifting from deep crimson to coppery tones.
