This rum, which is produced in a limited number of bottles for Bortársaság, underwent double ageing. It spent its first 8 years in bourbon barrels in the tropics, after which it was transferred to the Ferrand family’s estate in southwestern France, where it was aged for another 4+1 years in cognac barrels and +1 year in sherry barrels. The selected casks, the special climatic conditions and the 13 years of ageing all contributed to making this rum a truly special and unique batch. The nose is pleasant with walnut, fig and caramel, complemented by apricot and peach, as well as some forest floor and leather notes. All of these return on the palate, which starts off silky and creamy, before the fruit arrives, then there are hazelnuts, and a hint of vanilla and oak.
