The Mizunara Cask is a unique expression of the Barceló brand, blending the traditional style of imperial rum with a special ageing process. The rum is first aged in American oak barrels, then finishes its ageing in rare Japanese Mizunara oak, which is known for being difficult to work but also for its unique flavour contributions. Alongside fruity and woody notes on the nose, there’s vanilla and coconut, complemented by cinnamon and nutmeg and a touch of floral character. On the palate, a smooth sweetness of caramel and honey merges with the clove and sandalwood qualities of Japanese oak, accompanied by raisin, apricot and dried fruit flavours.
