The estate has been owned by the Forgeron family since the 1950s and its management was taken over by Michel from his parents – it was 2 hectares of vineyards and 4 hectares of arable land at the time. The next few years were spent with the development and transformation of cognac production, which in the end resulted in the birth of their own brand in 1977, under the name Michel Forgeron. By the end of the last century, the distillery was managed by Michel’s sons, Christophe and Pierre. The estate had grown to 24 hectares by then, and for the 100th anniversary, the bottling plant was equipped with solar panels. They are in the Grand Champagne area, they use 11- and 25-hectolitre copper stills for distillation with fine lees. The VSOP is the blended version of 0- to 15-year-old cognacs that are aged in French oak barrels. Aromas of vanilla and flowers (jasmine, daffodil, acacia), as well as slightly spicy notes appear on the nose, while the palate is light, round and silky.
