Bálint Dámosy realized on his way to getting his WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Diploma that his real passion lies in spirits. After two years of planning, preparation, reading, travelling and a lot of work, he founded Opera Gin, which has become Hungary’s first real micro gin distillery. Opera Gin makes its London Dry gin from pure corn alcohol, with natural plants and 11 different spices, within Budapest’s city limits, in a former cotton factory. Beside the basic gin spices, high-quality Hungarian juniper berries, lavender and poppy seeds, which have never been used for flavouring any gin, give it a local flavour.
