The first peated single malt whiskey of the Teeling distillery – its name is inspired by the ancient Blackpitts area, which is located exactly behind the new distillery. It was once synonymous with many industries, especially malthouses, and was home to Ireland's largest barley malting houses. What makes this peated whiskey unique is the triple distillation process, which reduces and transforms the slightly smoky flavour into a barbeque structure, combined with an innovative ageing process, for which they use 1/3 ex-bourbon and 2/3 ex-Sauternes casks. Barbecue smoke and grilled meat are mixed with sweet aromas of butterscotch and orange peel on the nose. The palate is accompanied by the salty and smoky notes of whiskey, honey, caramel, stewed and grilled fruits.
