Cuba is sometimes called the Isla de Cocodrilo, that is the island of the crocodile. The native Cuban crocodile lives in the Zapata Swamp, a UNESCO-listed area, and the shape of this animal can be recognised on the bottle (which resembles crocodile skin) and on the label.
The rum was aged for 7 years in former bourbon barrels made from white oak. Freshly roasted coffee, toasted almond and cocoa on the nose, then rich vanilla, slightly smoky notes, coffee, ginger, pepper and distinctive dried fruits like raisin on the palate.
