Equiano is the world’s first Caribbean and African blended rum, which gets its rich and deep flavours from the ex-bourbon and ex-cognac casks used for ageing it in. It was named after Olaudah Equiano, who fought for freedom and managed to free himself by selling rum. Keeping to this idea, the company donates 5% of its profit, and two British pounds after every bottle sold annually to its foundation to support freedom and equality. In the aromas of this exceptional rum, dried fruits and such sweet notes as chocolate, caramel and butterscotch can be discovered. The palate is silky, and the spicy notes play a bigger role than the nougat and roasted hazelnuts.
