Plantation rum will soon be marketed under the name Planteray. Maison Ferrand announced in 2020 that the original name would be changed due to negative associations (with slavery). The new name pays homage to the sugarcane from which rum is made and the rays of the sun, thus forming the name PLANTERAY. As in previous years, we’ve selected a unique barrel from the distillery, now from the island country of Trinidad and Tobago. This rum begins its ageing in ex-bourbon barrels, then moves to Ferrand Cognac casks, and finally finishes ageing in port barrels. It has rich notes of blackcurrants, plums and red berry fruit, followed by caramel, vanilla, oak and subtle spices. The finish is long with ripe fruit, walnut and wood.
