The LAGG brand was established in 2019 by the Arran Distillery as a sister distillery on the southern end of the island. The distillery only produces strongly peated whisky, and the Kilmory edition is one of the brand's flagships, named after the village near the distillery. Concerto barley and water from their own borehole are used in processing, and peat is sourced from North East Scotland. Kilmory as a term embodies the ‘LAGG house style’, which is centred around the use of bourbon casks, so it's no wonder that the smoky effect of the peat combined with the vanilla and creaminess of the American oak give the backbone of this single malt. These are complemented by some citrus and white flowers on the nose, which also return on the palate.
