Marchese Lodovico Antinori isn't a man to do things by halves. Not satisfied with producing Sauvignon Blanc only in Tuscany at Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, he took to the New World and the prime Sauvignon Blanc region of Marlborough in New Zealand to create the definitive Sauvignon Blanc. In 2003, Lodovico teamed up with his equally legendary brother Piero Antinori to buy part of the Meadowbank vineyard from esteemed local grower William Grigg, who still supplies 40% of the grapes for Mount Nelson from his own vineyards. Located on the banks of Taylor River near the mouth of Cloudy Bay, the strong maritime influence reduces the risk of frost and rain in the autumn.
