It comes from the hardest, rockiest parcels in Los Chacayes. Grapes here do not grow easily: the vines cling to the rocks, the fruit ripens slowly and every sip carries the terroir’s resistance. The name ‘Boulder’ refers to the land of Los Chacayes, where the terrain is strewn with massive rocks that break through the surface. Yields are low, producing concentrated and taut fruit. The wine is deep in tone yet it flows with ease: black fruit, graphite, spice and cool acidity. The tannins are chalky, and the palate is dry, long and precise.
Boulder marks the boundary for Kaiken – a benchmark both in the vineyard and in the winery. The estate’s flagship wine.

Chilean success in Argentina. The pioneer of Chilean quality winemaking, Viña Montes, started its Kaiken winery in neighbouring Argentina based on Malbec. Today, they work on three estates within the Mendoza wine region, their vineyards lie in the best regions, their wines focus on terroir.
