Lackner-Tinnacher, an old Styrian family winery, stands between vertical hillsides, bright green rows and old vines. Almost 250 years of experience and local knowledge are concentrated in the hands of the calm winemaker Katharina Tinnacher, who works the way her father did: away from fashion trends, in a pure, elegant and timeless style. Besides their most important variety, Sauvignon Blanc, they also place great emphasis on Pinot varieties. Alongside the Pinot Gris, ‘White Burgundy’, that is Pinot Blanc, also grows on the almost vertical hillsides. The Eckberg is an east-facing, sunny slope with chalky marl soil, a round palate and a balanced crop. The must pressed from the undamaged bunches was spontaneously fermented in tanks and large, used barrels for a year. Stony aromas and stone fruits on the nose, ripe pear, brioche, green herbs, followed by quince on the delicate, juicy palate, with bracing acidity.
