The ‘hill wine’. The estate’s signature style, made from organic grapes, 100% Grüner Veltliner. Clear, complex and crisp. After harvest, half of the fruit was pressed in a basket press and the other half in a pneumatic press, then it was spontaneously fermented in tank and rested on the lees until February. For four generations, everything has revolved around Grüner Veltliner on roughly 60 hectares, east of the triangle formed by Kremstal, Kamptal and Wachau. The Am Berg, harvested from loess and gravel soils, is really long and saline. The palate is dense yet not heavy, lifted by citrus-driven acidity.

Bernhard Ott was 21 when he took over and made the more than 100-year-old family estate a success. The single-vineyard Grüner Veltliners, based on the local character, are cultivated biodynamically, in the Ott family’s old winemaking style, to which Bernhard Ott returned after a lengthy period of experimenting.
