Cabernet Sauvignon (90%) and Merlot (10%) from the granite soil of the Apalta and Marchigüe vineyards in the Colchagua Valley. 55% of it was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (from new to third-fill). The usual elegance on the nose, ripe fruit, plum, fig and blackberry, mild black pepper and spices. The full palate corresponds to the nose, while the tannins are nicely rounded out. It has an excellent structure and plenty of layers – the classical Chilean style with a long finish.
The symbol of the global success of Chilean wine is Viña Montes. Situated within South America’s prestigious Cochagua Valley, the winery started from 30 hectares. Montes Alpha was the first premium Chilean wine, and is made only in the best vintages. With the Kaiken Winery, they are also at home in Argentina now.
