Folly is one of Montes’ iconic wines, sourced from the steepest slopes of the Colchagua Valley. Here, Syrah shows a very different face from the Rhône Valley or Australia: thanks to warm days, cool evening breezes and granite-volcanic soils, it is both ripe and taut. The 2021 vintage spent 24 months in French oak barrels. This year’s label was once again created by Ralph Steadman, one of the world’s best-known illustrators.

The nose shows blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and ripe plum, complemented by black pepper, dark chocolate and fine toasted notes. The palate is deep and concentrated, yet surprisingly energetic, with dense fruit balanced by ripe, silky tannins.
