Jean-Michel inherited two hectares of vineyards from his father, and the greatest strength of his estate is that he works almost exclusively with old vines, some of which are up to 100 years old. While Anthony Perol’s and Pierre-Marie’s Beaujolais wines this year are unusually complex and dense, Jean-Michel’s wine hits precisely the flavours and aromas that make a nouveau instantly recognisable, even blind. Juicy, vibrant, light and smooth, with banana and strawberry notes and a touch of tannin on the finish. Classic.
