Vignerons de Bel Air is such a cooperative winery that was created by a handful of producers in 1929, just before the Great Depression. They teamed up and made their joint-venture wines a success, and in the last 90 years, lots of people have joined them. Today, the grapes of nearly 250 like-minded Beaujolais growers are vinified, and the most important wine has always been the Nouveau. The Gamay harvested from 30-year-old vines grown on less granite, but more clay soil is placed in whole bunches in temperature-controlled steel tanks, where it is fermented for 4-10 days. Every year, it is one of the most rousing of our range, with a smooth palate, black cherry and forest fruit flavours.
