One of the most ancient estates on the Right Bank, which dates back to the second century. It has always been revolutionary – it was the first to use steel tanks in the cellar, and the exclusive use of ageing in new barrels also appeared here first. And what makes it truly exceptional is the unusual proportion of the varieties. In this part of Bordeaux, Merlot dominates everywhere, while at Figeac it has been a maximum one-third of the blend, while the two Cabernets have always been given a larger role. The château’s typical tobacco, mint and graphite notes appear in a lively manner, the palate is nicely structured, round and full. If you open a vintage that’s younger than 10 years old, it’s worth decanting it for a couple of hours.
