Based on the 1855 classification, it’s classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classe and is one of the most desired wines in the world: a blend of 97.1% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.6% Merlot and 0.3% Petit Verdot from old vines. It was aged in new French oak barrels. Unparalleled complexity, cassis, black cherry, raspberry, violet, truffle and smoke appear on the nose and the palate. It’s a full-bodied wine, even for a Bordeaux, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, extraordinary length and finesse, plus exciting spiciness on the finish. Compared to recent years, Latour is more delicate, with serious ageing potential.
