Of the 61 châteaux classified in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, 31 Grand Cru Classé estates come from Margaux, which is the highest number of any appellation in Bordeaux. Among them, Château Margaux is one of only five classified at the very top level, as a First Growth. This wine is a textbook example of the concentration, density and fruit-driven character typical of Margaux: a perfectly balanced blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. The fruit features cassis liqueur, blackberry and blueberry compote, complemented by refined oak and spicy notes of liquorice, dark chocolate and truffle. Full-bodied with finely polished tannins and the potential to age for decades.
