A Left Bank blend composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc. This is the second wine of the prestigious Bordeaux estate, made in more youthful, lighter and approachable style compared to the Grand Vin, while remaining true to the classic terroir characteristics of the Pauillac region. This wine comes from a cinquième cru (fifth growth) estate classified in 1855, which has shown significant progress in recent years. Its exceptional qualities and competitive price have made it a favourite among critics. The 2020 vintage reveals a rich, modern and concentrated flavour profile, with dominant pure blackcurrant (cassis), cedar, fine oak, as well as floral and spicy notes. The gravelly soils of the Médoc provide ideal conditions for grape development, contributing to the wine’s complexity and minerality. This vibrant wine possesses a well-balanced structure, smooth tannins and bright acidity. Offering excellent value for money, it’s an outstanding choice both for exploring Pauillac’s distinctive style and for long-term ageing.
Château Pédesclaux was founded in 1810 and was classified as a fifth growth in the official Bordeaux classification in 1855. In 1930 Lucien Jugla became its tenant, and later purchased the estate. The Jugla family are still the owners today.
