The product is no longer available

The only ’Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel’ in the Medoc, the Grand Vin was made from the grapes harvested from the clay-pebble soil vineyard that lies next to the village of Ordonnac. In the 2017 vintage, it was blended from 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. It’s a sophisticated wine with a taut structure, great richness and freshness. It’s a pure and powerful wine with thick tannins, a spicy, deep finish, and exceptional ageing potential. It is often referred to as the “Pure Medoc style’.

Chateau Potensac

Located in the far north of the Médoc, this highly sought Cru Bourgeois was transformed into a high quality estate by Léoville-Las-Cases’ Michel Delon, who took over this 50 hectare property in the 70s. He took Potensac ever forward until his death in 2000, when his equally-innovative son Jean-Hubert took over at the helm. Pierre Rolland, brother of legendary oenologist Michel, assists with the winemaking. The vines are planted in a mix of alluvial gravel and red clay and are an average age of 35 years. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates plantings with 60%, followed by 25% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. All grapes are hand picked, with fermentation carried out in a combination of concrete and stainless steel. 20% of the wine is aged in new barriques.
