We approach Béru along centuries-old stone walls and densely planted, steep vineyards, heading to the highest village in windy, cold Chablis. The ancestors of Athénaïs de Béru have lived here since 1627, and over the years, the family, the estate and the village have become inseparably linked.
The Orangerie is an unconventional single vineyard selection from just half a hectare, known as ‘Orangerie’. Surprisingly, the soil here is clay and sand, and is much more fertile than in the rest of the appellation. The characteristic style of Béru wines is complemented on the nose by citrus notes, while the palate is round, full, soft and juicy. For Chablis producers accustomed to challenging years, 2022 was a true gift, with a generous harvest in both terms of quantity and quality.
The most remarkable Chablis estate we know.
