Roland Lavantureux started bottling his wine in the 1970s, in Lignorelles, on the family estate. Up until then, his ancestors had been delivering their wine to the Paris market in 132-litre feuilette barrels, which are typical of the region. In the last 40 years, the 5 hectares of family vineyards have been expanded up to 20 hectares, with old Chardonnay parcels in the prestigious vineyards of the area.
2022 was a real gift for Chablis producers, who are more used to challenging vintages. The harvest was rich, both in terms of quantity and quality. Roland Lavantureux and his family started on the 1st of September and returned to the plots to pick until the middle of the month. “The wines are rich and juicy. The flavours are already ripe, and their balance recalls the 2019 wines,” says David Lavantureux.
Ripe and perfectly healthy fruit arrived to the cellar from the organically cultivated plots. The cellar's estate wine is defined by classic Chablis notes again this year: yellow fruit, stone fruit, deep citrusy acidity and real energy. The wine has inimitable cool and vibrant acidity that is only characteristic of Chablis. It’s the excellent combination of winemaker and wine region.
