Pierre Girardin is only in his early 20s, yet he makes wines in Burgundy with remarkable experience and confidence. His portfolio includes vineyards that are out of reach for most, such as Bâtard-Montrachet and Échezeaux, and he carries with him the winemaking heritage of 13 generations of Burgundian ancestors. His first vintage was 2017, and since then he has been refining his own style, which is defined by precise structure, crystal-clear purity, lightness and intricate detail. Featured for the first time in the Bortársaság selection.
In Vosne-Romanée, the very elite of Burgundy converge. Here, vineyard parcels change hands only once in a blue moon, and when they do, the price per hectare is set in eight figures, in euros. These are among the most valuable agricultural lands in the world.
Échézeaux is one of the village’s legendary vineyards, spanning a total of 40 hectares and divided into 11 parcels. Pierre blends fruit from Les Treux and Les Poulaillères, the latter being so exclusive that, aside from him, only the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti harvests from there. The vines are organically cultivated and over 60 years old, with 100% whole-bunch, spontaneous fermentation. The wine was aged for 8 months entirely in new oak barrels.
