One of Burgundy's oldest vineyards, which nicely symbolises the structure of the wine region: 86 owners share 50 hectares, with many having just a few rows, while Thibault Liger-Belair owns 0.75 hectares in Clos de Vougeot. Forty percent of the plot was planted in 1992, while the larger part was planted in 1944. Its originality lies in the fact that the nearly 200-metre-long rows are underlain by anything but homogeneous soil beneath the old vines. Gravelly, clay, iron-rich and sedimentary sections all appear, and these characteristics converge simultaneously in the wine, giving it an incredible completeness and roundness.
It delivers a rich and dense impression, with the subtle nuances characteristic of Vosne-Romanée and less of the fieriness typically associated with Clos de Vougeot. This is one of the estate's most valuable plots. A rarity.
