This wine has written Mas de Daumas Gassac into the great book of French wine. A blend from gorgeous vineyards with unique varieties, surprising proportions, and an inimitable character. In 2022, alongside 76% of Cabernet Sauvignon, 11 other varieties were included (Tannat, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Montepulciano, Carmenère, Saperavi, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Nielluccio).
The organically grown fruit from 43-year-old vines undergoes long maceration at the winery, followed by a year of ageing in used French barrels. Unfiltered bottling.
Herbs, spices and garrigue lead the nose, followed by a meaty palate featuring fine, powdery tannins and countless additional layers.
Even bats play a role in the environmental cultivation on the slopes of the Villeveyrac Valley, which overlook the Mediterranean in Languedoc. Red wines are made from the plots with clay-limestone soils, while whites and rosés come from the shores of the Thau Lagoon.
