The ripe crop of the biodynamically-cultivated grape rows running from the top of the hill to the banks of the Mosel. The area with blue, red and grey slate soil, which is south- to southeast-facing, covers 12 hectares opposite the small town of Pünderich. The wine was spontaneously fermented and then aged on the lees in used 1,000-litre oak barrels, in 2022 with spontaneous malolactic fermentation owing to the characteristics of the vintage.
It has complex aromas of lemon, green apple, grapefruit and peach. The palate is juicy, the vibrant acids are beautifully balanced by the four grams of residual sugar. The finish is long and citrusy, with subtle saltiness.
Clemens Busch’s Mosel winery lies on one side of the river, with the vineyards on the other. The grapes picked from the almost vertical slate hillside are taken to the winery by ferry. Cultivation is biodynamic, fermentation is spontaneous, ageing is in old oval barrels: dry wines and some sweets are created here.
