Grosses Gewächs, which is the highest level: a dry Riesling made from Mosel’s best, steep plantations. The grapes grown on the most exciting parcels give unique wines with expressive grape character and long ageing potential. The Juffer vineyard has an 80% gradient in certain places, the wine was born on slate slopes where the interplay of the soil, the river and the mesoclimate gives the basis for the super-tasty, lively and fruity Riesling. Intense, ripe aromas on the nose, melon, citrus fruit and the spice of the elderflower. The palate is very juicy with apple, quince and tropical fruits. It’s elegant with fresh acidity, slight creaminess and a salty feel, with long finish.
One of the most important family estates of the Mosel region, from Brauneberg, with a 400-year-old history. The winery’s Riesling grapes grow on extremely steep slopes, among others, in the famous Juffer vineyard, on slate soil. The grapes are turned into wines in a unique, pure style by the team of Oliver Haag.
