The grapes that make up the estate wine, representing the style of the winery, come from the vineyards located around Ruppertsberg, Deidesheim and Forst. The soil of the first two is characterized by red sandstone, loam, clay, limestone and in some places – loess, while volcanic rocks also appear in the areas surrounding Forst. After the harvest, the individual batches were pressed and fermented separately in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks to preserve freshness, and then aged in the same place by being kept on the lees for a short time. Apples, peaches, exotic fruits, lime and grapefruit, complemented by a touch of carbon dioxide from fermentation. It’s a typical Pfalz Riesling, with delicious fruit, elegant acidity and enchanting minerality.
One of Germany’s largest family wineries and biodynamically cultivated estates. They have 86 hectares and instead of growing further, they’re cutting down in order to improve the biodynamic growing. Beside the dry Rieslings, they are known for their sweet wines. They classify their vineyards based in a Burgundian way.
