One of the classics of the wine region, this is a textbook Pfalz Riesling from the historic Dr. Von Bassermann-Jordan estate, which was founded in 1718 and now cultivates 50 hectares. Since the turn of the millennium, the winery has practiced biodynamic viticulture, and this is its entry-level Riesling, from vineyards around Deidesheim, Ruppersberg and Forst. The method is straightforward: whole-bunch fermentation in tank, carried out slowly, on fine lees, at a low temperature. Vibrant acidity that almost feels bubbly, with peach blossom and green apple on the nose. On the palate, it reveals juicy fruits and grapefruit, with subtle salinity on the finish, thanks to the slate-rich soil.

One of Pfalz’s big classics with a 300-year-old history and a winemaking family that has defined German wine culture. The varieties and the best plots haven’t changed. The 50-hectare estate is cultivated biodynamically, and Bassermann-Jordan wines are made with whole-bunch pressing, and long, cool, tank fermentation.
