Similar to Imre Györgykovács' October releases, Bálint Földi traditionally releases his new vintage in November. This timing allows for two simple things: post-summer bottling maturation; and after the harvest, Bálint can finalise the labels and packaging. Everything is done with one pair of hands: four local grape varieties, cultivated over two hectares, yielding only a few thousand bottles annually.
The 2023 wines are full of energy and richness, showcasing Bálint’s refined and precise style.
In 2023, Bálint selected Kéknyelű grapes from three distinct parcels in the Lesencetomaj, Badacsonyörs and Bács Hill areas. The hand-picked bunches were pressed whole, and the clarified must underwent spontaneous fermentation and ageing in used barrels until bottling the following summer. Aromas of meadow flowers, grape flowers and herbal candy emerge, with a subtle waxy, dense texture that remains vibrant on the palate. Full of character.
