We visited Robert last November when the first snow began to fall. By the fireplace's glow, we sampled his 2024 vintages around the dining table. Szent György Hill never ceases to surprise, and Robert – even after all these years – continues to innovate. That's how an unlabelled bottle of orange wine appeared on the table that day, now available in the Gilvesy range with the same elegant simplicity.

Gilvesy Narancsbor (Orange Wine) 2022 was born from a chance opportunity coinciding with an old experimental dream. Shortly before the harvest, a neighbour on Szent György Hill approached Robert with an offer of Zöldveltelini (Grüner Veltliner) grapes. Since skin-fermented vinification of this variety had long intrigued him, the decision was obvious.

The whole bunches were hand-harvested and placed in small stainless steel tanks, then inoculated with spontaneously fermenting must. Fermentation began semi-carbonically, with skin contact lasting approximately two weeks. After pressing, the juice was transferred to a used 500-litre oak barrel to complete fermentation. That same year, the cellar had a fresh, acid-rich Furmint base wine for sparkling wine production, which proved the perfect counterpoint to add structure to the Zöldveltelini's softness.

This is how a vibrant, tautly acidic wine with skin-contact character was born – an experiment that evolved into something truly significant. Available while stocks last.
