Zeusz, which was created by the crossing of the French Bouvier with the Hungarian Ezerjó, is a real rarity. Balázs Sike’s 20-year-old vines grow on almost pure basalt soil. The wine was fermented in tanks, then 30% of it was put into large barrels for further ageing. The nose is medium intense, grapey, floral and appealing. The palate is substantial, mouth-filling and citrusy, with the acidity nicely framed by the variety’s typical residual sugar.
